Cricket world in youth
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born on 7 July 1981 in Rachi, Bihar. Mahendra among his acquaintances M. S. D. He was known by the nickname Mahi. When Mahendra was young, his parents migrated to Rachi from Uttarakhand. His father-Pan Singh was working in a junior management position in Mecon.
Dhoni has a sister Jayanthi Gupta and a brother Narendra Dhoni. While in school, Mahendra used to play badminton and football. He was the goal keeper of the school football team. The school’s football coach sent him to play cricket in a local cricket club.

From 1995 to 1998, he showed progress in field-defence. Mahi worked as a ‘Train Ticket Checker’ at Kharagpur Railway Station from 2001-2003.
Early days of cricket
Dhoni made his Ranji Trophy debut for Bihar at the age of 18 in the 1999-2000 season. In his debut match, he scored 68 against Assam. He scored 283 runs in five matches. In 2000-2001, Mahi scored his maiden century against Bengal.
Mahendra soon made a name for himself due to his powerful hitting. In the 2003–2004 season, Dhoni was selected to play for the India-A team for the tour of Zimbabwe and Kenya. He maintained his identity as a field-keeper during this tour. His good performance in the series caught the attention of the then captain of the Indian team Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri. But, He was not selected in national team.
Career in One-Day Cricket
After failing in the series in Bangladesh, Mahi was selected for the one-day series in Pakistan. Mahendra scored 148 runs in the second match of the series. This score was not achieved by any other Indian fielder till then. Mahi then scored an unbeaten 183 against Sri Lanka. He was declared Man of the Series for his performance.
Later in 2006 against Pakistan, Dhoni performed well and I. C. C. He was ranked at the top of the list of the best ODI players.
India’s performance in the 2007 World Cup was not that impressive and Dhoni was not able to make much of an impact. After a disappointing World Cup innings, Mahendra was selected as vice-captain for the seven-match ODI series against South Africa in Ireland and the subsequent seven-match ODI series between India and England.
Dhoni has won many honors. Mahendra is the first Indian batsman to win the ICC ODI Player of the Year Award in 2008. Dhoni has been honoured with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award as well as India’s fourth highest citizen in 2009 and captained Wisden’s first Dream Test XI.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has also been honoured with the Padma Shri award. Under the leadership of Dhoni, India sealed the ODI World Cup once again after 28 years. India won the Champions Trophy for the first time in 2023 when Dhoni was the captain.

Style of play
Dhoni is a right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper. Dhoni is one of the players who captains the wicket-keeper while playing for the Indian junior team and the India ‘A’ team. Dinesh Karthik, Ajay Ratara and Parthiv Patel continued to follow the path shown by Mahendra and found success.
In August 2004, Mahi scored several centuries in partnership with Gautam Gambhir against Pakistan-A in the opening tri-series. In the same year, Mahendra was admitted to the Indian national team.

In the fifth ODI against Pakistan in 2005, Mahendra scored an impressive 148 runs on the scoreboard. This is the highest number of runs scored by any Indian wicketkeeper. The same year Dhoni not only broke his own record but also set a new record for the highest second innings score in an ODI by scoring 183 not out against Sri Lanka.
Mahendra’s success in limited-overs cemented his place in India’s Test team, and his aggressive and successful performances in the ODIs at the end of 2005–06 earned Dhoni the I. C. C. Ranked as the number one batsman in the ODI rankings.
But Dhoni’s performances were not satisfactory thereafter and India lost the ICC Champions Trophy, DLF Cup and bilateral series against South Africa and West Indies in 2006.
In early 2007, reports of Dhoni’s chart-topping performances against South Africa and the West Indies proved false. The Indian team was eliminated in the first round of the 2007 World Cup. But after the World Cup, Dhoni was declared Man of the Series in the bilateral ODI series against Bangladesh. Mahendra was then made vice-captain of the team for the England tour in 2007.
World Cup 2011
MS Dhoni World Cup India started the World Cup in 2011 well by defeating Bangladesh. They defeated Ireland, Netherlands and West Indies. South Africa beat India. But India was able to win over Pakistan. In the final match against Sri Lanka in Mumbai, Dhoni scored 91 runs to pull off a victory. Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the man of the match award.
Test career
After a successful innings against Sri Lanka, Dhoni selected Dinesh Karthik as his Test wicket-keeper in December 2005. When Dhoni came on the field in that match, the team was struggling at 109 for 5 wickets. But Dhoni displayed an aggressive game. In the second Test match, he scored a half-century and set a target of 436 runs ahead of Sri Lanka, India bowled out the Sri Lankan team for 247 runs.
India toured Pakistan in January-February 2006. Dhoni scored a century in the second Test. Dhoni and Irfan Pathan did their best to take India to safety. The team needed 107 runs to avoid the follow on. Dhoni played in his natural combative, aggressive style with a 34-ball fifty to complete his 93-ball century.
T20 career
Under the leadership of Dhoni, India has won the most number of matches in T-20. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has won 99 matches as the captain of Chennai Super Kings. As of this writing, Dhoni has led the team in 165 matches. Dhoni is the first cricketer to win 99 matches as captain.
Dhoni has led both Pune Rising Warriors and Chennai Super Kings effectively. While praising Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli says, ‘Dhoni has the power to enrich India’s game.

Dhoni completed his 300th T20 International match in his third match against New Zealand. He has become the first Indian cricketer to reach this peak. Dhoni has many people in his personal life who are his childhood friends. Only one of his friends taught him to play helicopter shots. After his debut in international cricket, Dhoni fell in love with a girl named Priyanka. Later, Priyanka died in a car accident.
It is said in the movie MS Dhoni that Dhoni and Sakshi met in a hotel. Actually that is not true. The truth is that both Dhoni’s father and Sakshi’s father used to work in the same company. Surprisingly, Sakshi and Dhoni are also studying in the same school, but at the same time Dhoni stopped attending school, Sakshi had joined the school. Due to which Dhoni could not meet Sakshi at school. After some times, Sakshi’s family left Ranchi and move to Dehradun. Sakshi’s grandfather was already living in Dehradun.
