It is the branch of engineering under which the Standard of unit of measurement, measurements methods and measurement Instruments are Study.

It is study of different measurement instrument for finding Precision, accuracy, Possible sources of error and methods for elimination of error.

*Objective or necessity of metrology :-

1) It can be used to achieve standardization.
2) It can be of use to find out source of error.
3) It is useful in selection of proper measuring Instrument of gauges .
4) It is used to have good accuracy and precision.
5) It is used to reduce cost of inspection.
6) It can be used to an increase customer satisfaction.
7) It can be used to reduce rework and rejection.

* Inspection :-

Definition :-
It is defined as checking of quality, characteristics or given job.
OR
Inspection is act of checking of all material and a part product produce and change stages during either production activity.

*Need of Important of inspection :-

1) It can developed better reputation in the market.
2) If saves money.
It ensures that product manufacturer confirm to designed stand and specification.
4) Result of inspection provide to find out error in the current production process.
5) It maintain good quality of Product.

*Scientific metrology :-

which deals with establishment and development of measurement standards long with there maintenance.

*Industrial metrology :-

It has to insure adapted unchanging of measuring Instrument use in industry as well as production and testing process.

1) Repeatability :-

It is ability measuring instrument to give the repeat / same value to again and again of given quantity under the same condition.

2] Sensitivity :-

It is ability of measuring instrument to detect Small variation in a quantity being measurement.

3) Readability :-

It is defined as ability of measuring instrument to have its indication converted into meaningful number.

4) Reproduceability :-

It is the closes of Reading obtain during multiple number of measurement of some quantity using different observer, using different method of measurement by
using different measuring instrument under different invoirmental condition.
