Hello guy’s ! How are you?… I do know you’re additionally notice. These days we would like to debate completely different topics. I do know you’re associate engineer. therefore the data that I’m attending to offer you is concerning governing of steam turbine.
Governing of steam turbine:-
*Steam turbine governing is that the procedure of controlling. The rate of flow of steam to a steam turbine therefore as to maintain its speed of rotation as constant.
*The variation in load through on the operation of a steam turbine will have a significant impact on its performance.
*In a practical situation the load frequently varies from the designed or economic load and therefore there is always existing a considerable deviation from the desired performance of the steam turbine.
*The primary objective within steam turbine operation is to maintain a constant speed of the rotation irrespective of the varying load.
*This can be achieve by means that of a steam turbine.

Method of governing :-
(a) Nozzle control governing
(b) Throttle governing
(c) Bypass governing
*Nozzle control governing:-
The function of the governing is to regulate of the supply of steam to the turbine so that speed should remain constant in change the load condition.
*In nozzle control governing, the nozzles are mak of groups and the supply of steam to each group is controlled by the regulation a valve.
*The nozzles are divided into three groups N₁, N2, N3 and respective control valves are V₁, V2, V3 that control the steam supply to corresponding nozzles.
*The number of nozzles are a group may be ten, five or three.
*Under full load condition, all the regulation valves are open, Once the load on the turbine is reduced ; the suitable valve is closed to reduce the supply of steam.
*Throttle Governing :-
*Throttle Governing is that the most generally used method in steam turbine for smaller turbines where the steam flow is a smaller amount.
*As the name indicates, in throttle governing the governor throttles the inlet steam flow through the turbine according to the steam turbine speed.
*When there’s a load reduction than the desired economic load, then the speed increased by the control this governor closes the governor valve. This lead to in decreasing the steam flow reduces the steam turbine speed.
*By-pass Governing :-
*The above two methods of steam turbine governing i.e. throttle governing and nozzle governing controls the steam at inlet of the high pressure stage or first stage of turbine.
*When the load is bigger than desired load, the additional steam required couldn’t pass through the primary stage since additional nozzles are not available.
*In By- passed regulation governing, the steam is bypassed through a valve to the lower stage turbines which results in increasing the turbine power.
*Once the by-pass valve opens it’s under control of turbine governor to control the speed of the turbine. Because, If it doesn’t control by the governor. It may a lot of steam to lower stage which results in increased in turbine speed.
