Inversion of mechanism :-
The method is obtain to different mechanism by fixing different links in Kinematic chain is known inversion of mechanism.
Inversion of mechanism first types :-
1) Four bar chain mechanism :-
There are 3 subtypes :-
a) Beam engine.
b) Coupling rod of locomotive.
C) Watts indicator.
a) Beam engine :-
1) The beam engine, which is also known as crank & lever mechanism having four links as shown in figure.
2) When crank rotate with fixed point (A).Where B attached to be lever by connecting rod because of the rotation of crank lever to be oscillate with respect to fixed point ( D) .
3) The end of the lever point (E). Which is attached to the piston rod to be piston inside by the fixed cylinder.
4) When lever oscillate to piston rod to be reciprocated up and down with piston inside to cylinder.
5) The purpose of these mechanism the convert rotary motion into reciprocating motion.
Ex. To suck to coal from inside this earth.
b) Coupling rod of locomotive :-
1) The coupling rod of locomotive is also known as double crank mechanism having four links as shown in fig.
2) As shown in figure crank AD and BC inside the wheels Which is attached coupling rod at point D & C.
3) The link AB is fixed link. Which is used to maintain center to center distance between tei wheels.
4) The crank AD rotates with respect to fixed point (A) inside the wheel one automatically the crank BC rotates inside the wheel two.
5) The purpose of this mechanism the rotary motion transmitted from one link to another wheel.
Ex. Attached of train wheel.
C) Watts indicator :-
1) Watts indicator is also known as two lever mechanism having four links as shown in figure.
2) In figure point is fixed link, link AC move with respect to fixed point A, link CE is consider as a lever also link BFD consider as a single link because there is no any relative motion between BF & FD.
3) When steam interested into cylinder indicated plunger or piston moves in up word direction. The point E moves in up word direction in straight line path from E to E’.
5) Similarly ,It moves down word straight line path from E’ to E .When piston moves is down word direction.
Ex. It is used in steam engine, to draw straight line on drawing sheet.
