Definition of kinematic chain :-

When the kinematic pair is coupled in such away that the last link joined to the first link to transmit definite motion is known as kinematic chain.

Double slider chain mechanism three types :-

A) Elliptical transmit.

B) Scotch yoke mechanism .

C) Oldham coupling.

A) Elliptical transmit :-

1) This mechanism having two sliding Pair & two turning pair. Where link 1 and link 2 and link 3 and link 2 are turning pair, link 1 and link 4 are sliding pair.

2) These mechanism is used to drawn an ellipse.

3) considering a point ‘p’ on connecting rod to draw an ellipse as follows.

B) Scotch yoke mechanism :-

1) These mechanism having two sliding & two turning pairs as shown in fig. The crank will be rotated by clock wise & aniti clockwise fixed center A.

2) Which is on fixed link that time slides work slotted bar & piston will be reciprocated inside by cylinder.

3) The purpose of these mechanism convert rotary motion into reciprocating motion.

C) Oldham’s couplings :-

1) Oldham’s coupling is used to transfer the motion & power from one shaft to another shaft.

2) Where the axis of the shaft are parallel to each other & having some distance between them.

3) In these mechanism the transfer to motion & power from driving shaft to driven shaft of intermediate plate view the in between to flanges which is mounted on both shaft.

4) The intermediate having cross the grooves on both side to transfer the 100% motion &power from flank 1 to flank 2.

5) When motion to be shaft at driving between the transfer to the flink 1 then two intermediate plate then two flank 2 & finally two driven shaft. 6) The purpose of this mechanism the motion from one shaft to another Shaft.
